friday’s fab five {11.1.13}

The fab five is posted every Friday to end the week on a happy note and features items on my radar that I’m loving right now. Who knows, you might find something that could be on your fab five list!

Hope you had a great Halloween! Whether you did it up this past weekend, did something on the actual day or decided to forgo the entire holiday (like me), I hope you did something fun. This weekend Justin and I are going through our entire house to get it ready to sell as we start planning the move to San Francisco. It’s a big move, especially for this Texas girl. If there are any bloggers that live by the bay, please reach out as I would love to meet you!

Let’s get down to business shall we? Here’s this week’s fab five:

1. Steve Madden Girl Gamer Combat Boots $59 (DSW)

So let me just tell you the story on how these boots came to have a spot in my closet. I hated the look of these shoes ever since the 90’s when they first came out. I thought they were flat-out ugly, goth, and manly. In no way were they feminine or something I could ever pull off. Fast forward a couple of weeks ago when my sister-in-law was in Dallas and we went shopping at an expensive boutique and the sales chic made me try on a pair of Steve Madden combat boots. Still not convinced I could pull them off, but they were the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever put on. My sister-in-law kept saying I should get them, but one look at the $140 price tag was enough to put them away and walk out. After thinking about them for days I decided I needed a pair of these comfy shoes in my life so I did some research on Pinterest on how to style and looked for a pair in my price range. Steve Madden Girl made some that were simple and just as comfortable for half the price. Tried them on at DSW and decided to take home Madden’s little sister. The end.

2. Jeweliq Golden Bloom Necklace $25

How pretty is this necklace? Now believe it or not, you could pair this with the combat boots above (see why I love those boots?). I heard about this online store and been surprised by the pretty pieces for only $25. They have necklaces, bracelets and earrings (cleverly named neck candy, arm candy and ear candy). If you’re looking for pieces that’ll really bring out your outfit without spending a lot, check out the site.

3. Chocolate Lover Tote Bag $26

Laughed out loud when I saw this bag. Could it be true?

4. Recipe of the week: Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding (via Amanda K. by the Bay)

Now that we are past Halloween and going into the holidays, how about adding this bread pudding to the recipe mix? Of course you would have to experiment a couple of times to get it just right, right?

5. Virgin America Airlines Safety Video

O.M.G I love this so much! You know those safety announcements flight attendants do before they take off? Most of them looked utterly bored and annoyed they have to convey this information yet again. Up until now, the staff at Southwest Airlines have at least tried to have fun with it, but nothing tops this video made for Virgin America. Choreographed by Christopher Scott of So You Think You Can Dance (see routines here and here) and featuring dancers from So You Think You Can Dance (I spotted Cyrus!) and singers from American Idol. Virgin America, I love you. We should meet.

Have a great weekend everyone!
